Jeder der sich mit diesen Pilzsporen ansteckt, bekommt Feuermale am K\u00f6rper und die Infizierten leben in der andauernden Gefahr, in Flammen aufzugehen. Deswegen werden die Infizierten ausgesto\u00dfen und verjagt. Harper ist infiziert und trifft bei ihrer Flucht auf eine kleine Gemeinschaft, die einen Weg gefunden hat, mit der Infektionen nicht nur zu leben, sondern sie f\u00fcr sich zu nutzen. Aber jede Gemeinschaft wird problematisch, wenn sie extrem wird.<\/p>\n<p>Auf knapp 1000 Seiten erz\u00e4hlt Joe Hill diese Geschichte, in einer Welt, die unsere Vergangenheit hat. Die Facebook und Mary Poppins und selbst Pr\u00e4sident Trump kennt. Erz\u00e4hlt voll Popkulutur und auf eine Art, dass diese 1000 Seiten schnell runtergelesen sind und ich im Nachhinein irritiert bin, weil ich gern mehr Story gehabt h\u00e4tte. Ich h\u00e4tte die Protagonisten gern noch eine Weile begleitet. Gewusst, wie diese Welt sich entwickelt. Hier bleibt mir Joe Hill zu nah am Anfang der Katastrophe. Und ich habe gen\u00fcgend Geschichten gelesen \/ gesehen \/ geh\u00f6rt, die sich mit dem Umsturz der Gesellschaft nach einer Katastrophe \/ Apokalypse \/ Pandemie befassen. Was mich mehr interessiert, ist, wie es auf Dauer in einer solchen Welt ist. Wenn die Katastrophe zum Alltag wird. Das liefert Joe Hill nicht. Dennoch liefert er einen spannenden Roman, der sehr genau aufzeigt, wie aus einer Gemeinschaft eine Sekte wird und wie Gut und B\u00f6se bald nicht mehr eindeutig sind. Und das in einer Sprache, die mir wirklich Spa\u00df macht.<\/p>\n<p>Neben der nicht ganz so weiten Story ist mein gr\u00f6\u00dfter Wermutstropfen die deutsche \u00dcbersetzung. Je mehr ich mich mit Sprache und \u00dcbersetzungen besch\u00e4ftige, desto mehr fallen mir Schnitzer und Kanten darin auf. Und in diesem Roman sind einige davon drin. Ein Beispiel, es hei\u00dft im englischen Original bei der Beschreibung eines \u00fcberlebensgro\u00dfen Xylofons auf einem Spielplatz:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Privately Harper referred to these last as the Xylophone of the Damned.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Im Deutschen steht dort:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Harper nannte das Ger\u00e4t klammheimlich das Xylofon der Verdammten.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Das ist zwar w\u00f6rtlich richtig \u00fcbersetzt, aber in der feinen Bedeutungsebene m\u00fcsste es <em>insgeheim<\/em> hei\u00dfen, nicht <em>klammheimlich<\/em>. Ich wei\u00df, das ist pingelig und aus dem Elfenbeinturm der Sprachkunst gesprochen, aber mir sind ein paar solcher Schnitzer aufgefallen, die nicht h\u00e4tten sein sollen und mich jedes Mal aus dem Geschichtenfluss gerissen haben. Und ich gehe soweit, dass das vielleicht nicht jedem auff\u00e4llt und die wenigsten den Finger drauf legen k\u00f6nnen, was sie genau st\u00f6rt, aber ich werde nicht der Einzige sein, der dar\u00fcber stolpert. Ich habe sonst noch nie eine \u00dcbersetzung von\u00a0Ronald Gutberlet gelesen, kann mir also kein Urteil erlauben. Aber hier bin ich eben immer wieder h\u00e4ngen geblieben, was ich schade fand.<\/p>\n<p>Trotz allem, ich lese Joe Hill sehr gerne und bin gespannt, was da sonst noch kommt. Und ich kann mir sehr gut vorstellen, dass Fireman zu einer ganz guten Serie interpretiert werden k\u00f6nnte.<\/p>\n<p><em><a href=\"http:\/\/amzn.to\/2viv7he\">Fireman<\/a>\u00a0von Joe Hill wurde \u00fcbersetzt von\u00a0Ronald Gutberlet und erschien bei <a href=\"https:\/\/www.randomhouse.de\/Paperback\/Fireman\/Joe-Hill\/Heyne\/e512492.rhd\">Heyne<\/a>.
