Boyle macht, was er am besten kann: Er nimmt eine historische Fogur oder ein historisches Ereignis und spinnt davon ausgehend eine Geschichte, die Fiktion und Tatsachen so sehr miteinander verwebt, dass man nicht so genau wei\u00df, was nun wahr ist und was Boyle. Diesmal lehnt er sich an die\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/de.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Biosph%C3%A4re_2\">Biosph\u00e4re 2 Experimente<\/a> in den 1990ern und erz\u00e4hlt\u00a0die Geschichte von acht Terranauten, die zwei Jahre in dieser k\u00fcnstlichen Welt verbringen, erz\u00e4hlt aus drei Ich-Perspektiven.<\/p>\n<p>W\u00e4hrend die Basis und der Anfang noch der Realit\u00e4t entsprechen, erforscht Boyle, was h\u00e4tte passieren k\u00f6nnen, wenn die Experimente so lange gemacht w\u00e4ren, wie es geplant war. Tats\u00e4chlich wurden die Experimente wegen Geldmangels sehr schnell abgebrochen, in Boyles Roman nicht. Also verfolgt man aus drei Sichten &#8211; zwei innerhalb der Kuppel, eine au\u00dferhalb &#8211; das Geschehen. T.C. Boyle wei\u00df, wie er unterhaltsam erz\u00e4hlen kann, immer nah an der Komik, auch in den ernsten Momenten. So f\u00fchrt er uns durch zwei Jahre in der Kuppel, bei denen schnell klar wird, dass das, wenn auch simulierte, Leben in einer Atmosph\u00e4re nicht leicht ist, manchmal sogar fast t\u00f6dlich.<\/p>\n<p>Ich lese schnell, lerne viel Neues und will wissen, wie es weiter geht, ich\u00a0genie\u00dfe die Zeit im Roman, all die 600 Seiten. Die Pr\u00e4misse, mit der T.C. Boyle aber schreibt &#8211; ein Grundszenario entwickeln und dann gucken, wo es uns hinf\u00fchrt &#8211; f\u00fchrt aber auch zu dem Problem, dass es keine eindeutigen B\u00f6gen und Abschl\u00fcsse in manch seinen Geschichten gibt. So auch hier. Der Schluss des Romanes ist nicht der Schluss der Geschichte, wenn es sowas \u00fcberhaupt gibt. Deshalb f\u00fchlt sich aber der gew\u00e4hlte Schluss ein wenig beliebig an. Es h\u00e4tte schon 100 Seiten fr\u00fcher zu Ende sein k\u00f6nnen, aber auch 100 Seiten mehr. Aber 600 Seiten sind auch Brett. Nun bin ich gespannt auf den kommenden Roman, laut <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mokita.de\/blog\/2017\/02\/26\/lesung-t-c-boyle-im-wizemann-stuttgart-am-15-02-17\/\">Boyles Aussage auf der Lesung<\/a> wird es um Albert Hofmann und die Entdeckung von LSD gehen.<\/p>\n<p><em><a href=\"http:\/\/amzn.to\/2qIDccY\">Die Terranauten<\/a>\u00a0von T.C. Boyle wurde \u00fcbersetzt von Dirk van Gunsteren und erschien bei <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hanser-literaturverlage.de\/buch\/die-terranauten\/978-3-446-25386-5\/\">Hanser<\/a>. Ich habe \u00fcber den Roman auch im <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mokita.de\/blog\/2017\/05\/03\/literaturcafe-de-podcast-vier-buecher-ein-film-drei-rueckblicke-und-ein-bonus\/\">Literaturcaf\u00e9-Podcast<\/a> geredet.
